The World Darts Championship kicks off, round 2 features the biggest names in darts. Will we see any major upsets? Or will the favourites reliably keep the underdogs at bay?
There are 8 Target Darts players that are automatically entered into round 2. This list includes Luke Littler, Rob Cross, Stephen Bunting, Dimitri Van den Bergh, Nathan Aspinall, Chris Dobey, Gabriel Clemens, Raymond van Barneveld.

ROUND HIGHLIGHTS
- ​​​​​​Two-time World Champion Peter Wright pulled off the shock 4-1 upset over defending World Champion Luke Humphries. Wright was incredible on the night with 70 percentage on the doubles, 110.93 average and five 180s
- In an all-Target clash between Kevin Doets and Chris Dobey, it was Chris Dobey who came out victorious, winning 4-3 on the Ally Pally stage
- Callan Rydz overcame a tough contest with Robert Owen. Rydz was 2-0 down but fought hard to win the game 4-3
- Stephen Bunting continued his impressive tournament with a 4-0 washout over Luke Woodhouse
- Michael van Gerwen kept alive his quest for a fourth world title by seeing off Jeffrey de Graaf 4-2
- Luke Littler came through a tight 4-3 encounter with Ryan Joyce to book his place in the quarter-finals

PDC WORLD DARTS CHAMPIONSHIP 2025
2024 has been a resurgent year for interest in darts, and it all started 12 months ago at the World Darts Championship. A 16-year-old Luke Littler took the tournament by storm and almost finished as champion.
A year on from that defining tournament, we wait as the 2025 instalment gets underway.Â
What Happened: World Darts Championship 2024
The 2024 PDC Wolrd Darts Championship was held between the 15th December 2023 to 3rd January 2024 and took place at the iconic Alexandra Palace in London.
This was the 31st World Darts Championship to be organised by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and the 17th held at Alexandra Palace.
