Phil Taylor Retires from Competitive Darts
Today we share the news that Phil 'The Power' Taylor has decided that the World Seniors Darts Tour in 2024 will be his final year of active competition as he takes the step into retirement. Phil's journey through the world of darts has been nothing short of extraordinary, and we are grateful for the indelible mark he has left on the sport.
Phil's recent performances on the World Seniors Darts Tour have shown glimpses of the same precision, skill, and passion that have defined his illustrious career, but now is the time for him to gracefully step away from the competitive stage. Phil has said
“I’ll always love performing to the best of my ability and I do still have that eye for it, but time waits for no man and I know now is the right time to step away and let someone else have a go. I’d like to thank Target and the World Seniors Darts Tour for their support in recent years and I look forward to a bit longer of a rest this time!”
Phil will not go into the sunset quietly however, as he has a renewed drive and focus to make his final year on the tour a memorable one. He aims to pick up at least one last title to add to his legendary collection, beginning with the Seniors World Championship at the Circus Tavern next February. He said “It’ll be my last World Championship and I want to win it! I’m going to be working just as hard as I always have and might even give it a bit more to make sure I can go out on top”.
