Welcome to Target Elite 1 Mitchell Lawrie!

The young Scottish International is headed to Gibraltar this weekend to take part in the JDC World Cup and JDC World Championships. From throwing darts at a dartboard propped up on a chair to qualifying for the Scotland team, Mitchell has had a fantastic rise in a short period of time.

Heiling from Renfrew, he plays alongside ex-Scottish Internationals on a regular basis and beats them all too! He’s the youngest player to lift the Renfrew League Title and has already picked up 2 JDC Scotland titles, regularly facing off against fellow Elite 1 member Logan Gilmour.

Currently throwing Target Sync Darts in 23g, Mitchell is incredibly excited to be joining up with the Elite 1, as he set himself 2 goals when he started taking the game seriously back in February – Qualify for the Scotland team and get sponsored by Target Darts!

On finally getting to HQ after a long journey from Scotland, he said:

“Getting here is jaw-dropping. You realise as you stand in here that you’ve been in the same building as legends like Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld. It’s incredible!”

It was initially Mitchell’s Grandad who introduced him to the sport when he was a toddler, and to this day he is still the biggest critic! “If I play badly, or if I’m missing my doubles – Grandad tells me how bad I was before I can even say it!”. He’ll have his family with him over in Gibraltar as he looks to represent Scotland and the confidence is there to bring home some wins, with the youngster saying “We’ll come back with medals if we’re up for it. I know I will be!”.

Lorraine Winstanley is particularly excited about the new signing, saying

“Mitchell is a bright spark and his progress in just 10 or 11 months has been brilliant! He’s got a great personality and outlook on the game and I’m excited to support him on his journey through the youth game”

Here at Target, we’re invested in seeing the youth of today’s game take it seriously and make the improvements and develop the skills they need both in life and on the oche and we’re excited that yet another young player with a bright future has allowed us to support them in this way.

Welcome to the team, Mitchell!
