Welcome to Target Elite 1, Super 16 JDC Champion Joseph Westby!

Target are delighted to announce that the reigning Super 16 Champion Joseph Westby has made the step up from a Pathway Player to a full member of the Elite 1 team.

We’ve had our eye on Joseph’s development over the past year and whilst we are delighted to see just how well he has done, taking his game to an all new level and picking up one of the most prestigious titles in the JDC System, previously won by Elite 1 Alumni Keane Barry and Luke Littler (x2).

It was actually meant to be Westby v Littler in the final this time around, but due to Luke’s ranking he was replaced in the final. Joseph, who landed 2 180’s in the final on his stage debut is still relishing the thought of that match up though and we’re sure it will be one we get to see further down the line.

Despite only playing for a couple of years, Joseph has shown an incredible aptitude for the game, carefully nurtured by the Elite 1 Affiliated Blackburn Youth Academy ran by Keith Brunt. Our Head of Youth Development paid tribute to the work done by Blackburn Academy, saying 

“Players like Joseph are out there, waiting for the opportunity to have somewhere to play and Blackburn Youth Academy has helped give Joseph a platform to go out and not just play but win things.”

She continued "I’m really excited to welcome Joseph to the team and I’ve already advised that they clear a space on the mantle piece because I don’t think that’s the only trophy he’ll be putting up there."

We’re excited to see Joseph’s continued development and we’re delighted to finally be welcoming him to the team.
