The Joker Darts Academy Joins Target's Academy Programme!

We are thrilled to welcome The Joker Darts Academy to the Target Darts Youth Academy programme! This exciting new academy, based in Cork, will be led by Target player John O’Shea, ensuring its students are in expert hands.

With over 30 years of experience in the sport, John O’Shea made history as the first Irishman to win a televised major title when he claimed victory at the 2019 World Masters. Now, he’s bringing his knowledge and passion for the game to the next generation of darts players through The Joker Darts Academy.

Adding to the excitement, 2018 World Champion Rob Cross has joined as an ambassador for the academy. His experience at the highest level of the game will provide invaluable guidance to young players.

Although The Joker Darts Academy has yet to hold its first session, anticipation is high. With its official launch set for early April, over 30 young players—aged between 8 and 24—have already signed up, demonstrating the enormous interest in youth darts due to the Luke Littler effect.

Under John’s expert guidance, academy members will receive top-tier training, covering not only the technical aspects of the game but also the mental and professional skills required to succeed. The curriculum will include:

• Darts Techniques & Strategy – honing accuracy, counting skills, and game tactics.
• Professional Conduct & Sportsmanship – understanding the values of respect, self-discipline, and professionalism.
• Mental Strength & Preparation – learning to handle competition stress, self-regulation, and performance focus.
• A Strict Code of Conduct – reinforcing the importance of discipline through dress codes and academy rules.
