We are extremely pleased to announce that young dart sensation John Brown has graduated from our Target Elite 1 programme to become a member of our senior team.
John has been a part of Elite 1 for the best part of 4 years and in that time has continuously showcased his natural darting ability which has resulted in a well-deserved graduation to our senior line up. When reflecting on his move John said "It was a dream come true to sign for Elite 1 but joining Team Target is something else."
The Bristolian will now sit alongside some of the biggest names in darts "It means everything to be a part of a team full of my heroes". John is the son of PDC star Steve Brown who is the founder of the Junior Darts Corporation (JDC) which like Elite 1, is dedicated to shaping the future stars of darts.
After picking up his Tour Card in February this year, the 21-year-old now gets to compete on the PDC Pro Tour with his father. He has yet to be drawn against him but believes their first professional fixture is "well overdue".
John has had some promising runs so far on the pro circuit and told us he isn't phased by the big names as shown in his performances so far with victories over the likes of Jermaine Wattimena, Vincent van der Voort, Jelle Klaasen & Madars Razma.
Brown now has his sights set firmly on moving up the ranks and potentially booking himself a spot at Alexandra Palace for this year's World Darts Championship. When asked what it would mean to him to qualify, he told us
"It would mean absolutely everything, I grew up watching the worlds every Christmas - it is every darts players dream to be in it."
Target's Managing Director said
''It's been great to see John progress and develop through Elite 1, he was one of the very first Elite 1 players we signed. He's earnt his spot on the PDC tour and to graduate Elite 1. That's exactly what we set Elite 1 up to achieve.''
Welcome to senior #TeamTarget!
