Eleanor Cairns - World Champion
Target were delighted to welcome Eleanor Cairns, the first-ever WDF Girls World Champion to HQ on Wednesday morning, where we were able to sit down and chat to her about that magical day at The Lakeside.
"It was great to play there - the home of darts!" Eleanor looks back on that day fondly, and with good reason. She brushed aside the competition in straight legs, winning 2 - 0 to become the first-ever WDF Girls World Champion. "It still hasn't sunk in - it was amazing. The crowd, everybody watching, having my family there to support me - it was just amazing".
Eleanor is a member of our Elite 1 team, really showcasing to the world just how talented that group of young players really are. She was actually joined at The Lakeside that day by a familiar face. "One of my best friends is Luke Littler - He played as well that day but afterwards he came back to watch me. It was great being able to celebrate with my Elite 1 teammates".

The future is already at the forefront of Eleanor's mind, she's showing an elite level of ambition "I plan to do more of the women's tournaments now - I want to go out and prove myself against some of the best players. Dream opponents? It's got to be any of the former world champions - Fallon, Lisa, I just want to play the best players and test myself". She's got some incredible guidance and support to go out and do just that, with some of her Elite 1 teammates already playing on the biggest stages and our Head of Youth Development Lorraine Winstanley playing in the tournaments that Eleanor's looking to enter, the path is there for her to go out and hit the ground running.
It was amazing to see Eleanor come into HQ and bring that shiny new trophy with her! We're so proud of everything she's achieved with us so far and we're excited to see what else the oche holds for Eleanor.
