The electrifying atmosphere at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, England, was witness to van Barneveld's historic breakthrough, as he emerged victorious against all odds.

The 1998 BDO World Championship finals will forever be etched in the annals of darts history as the moment when a rising star from the Netherlands firmly established himself among the sport's elite. Facing off against his formidable opponent, Richie Burnett of Wales, van Barneveld exhibited exceptional skill and unwavering composure throughout the closely fought contest.

From the opening leg, the match showcased the unrelenting determination of both competitors. The atmosphere was electric as fans filled the venue to cheer on their respective favorites.
