Target Japan is proud to welcome one of the most exciting rising stars in Asian darts, Motomu Sakai, to the team.
Having begun his journey as a teenager, Motomu Sakai has developed into a formidable competitor through the highly competitive Dartslive Japan circuit. His early success on the domestic soft tip scene laid the foundation for a rapid rise onto the international stage, where his talent and composure have continued to impress.
Motomu Sakai first made his mark on the PDC Asian Tour in 2023, reaching the final in just his second event, an early signal of his potential. He followed this with a strong run at the PDC Asian Championship, defeating experienced names such as Lourence Ilagan and Paul Lim on his way to the semi-finals.
Over the next two seasons, Sakai’s growth was undeniable. A consistent presence across the 2024 Asian Tour, he built valuable experience before delivering a breakthrough year in 2025. During an outstanding run of form, he claimed four PDC Asian Tour titles, including back-to-back victories, showcasing elite scoring power and the ability to perform under pressure with 100-plus averages.
His success earned him a place in the PDC World Darts Championship, where he quickly became a fan favourite thanks to his energetic presence and signature stage charisma. A second-round appearance on debut followed a confident first-round victory, further underlining his credentials among the sport’s emerging elite
