Team Target's Danny Baggish becomes the first PDC Tour Card holder from the USA since 2011 with a dramatic run on the final day of Q School. The 2019 PDC North American Champion headed to UK Q School having enjoyed an excellent World Championship campaign which saw him beat Damon Heta and Adrian Lewis.
However, "The Gambler" still had to come through the first stage of the system to earn the right to compete in the final four days. That in itself was not stress-free, with Baggish losing in round one on both the first two days, before then winning five games in a row on the third and final day to qualify. The 37 year old from Florida then found himself in a similar position in the fight to win a Tour Card, after failing to register a single point in the first three days of action.
With his hopes of competing on the tour for the next two years dependent on a huge run on the last day, Baggish produced, winning six consecutive matches to set-up a decider with former WDF World Champion Scott Mitchell. Despite defeat in that match, Baggish won the legs he required to sneak into the very last qualifying position on leg difference, although he did not realise it until the match was over.
Baggish now looks ahead to the PDC Super Series which kicks off this Thursday at the Bolton Whites Hotel.
