Target Darts are delighted to announce that Lorraine Winstanley has been appointed as the Head of Youth Development for our Elite 1 programme.
Lorraine will continue the hard work of Darryl Fitton who has been with the programme since its launch in 2018. Darryl has been pivotal in helping build the Elite 1 profile; identify and mentoring some of the brightest young talents in darts and guiding them to some superb successes including x3 Youth World Champions and 4 PDC Tour Card winners. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Darryl for everything he has done and wish him all the best in the future.
Our new appointment has big shoes to fill; to build upon the strong foundations created by Darryl. But as one of the most high-profile female stars of the game and a former Worlds Master winner and Lakeside finalist, #TeamTarget pro Lorraine is undeterred by the challenge: "It's such an exciting opportunity to be involved with. To be able to just impart some of my experiences on to them and if everyone can take away a little bit of something then we will be heading in the right direction."
Target's Managing Director James Tattersall said: "We have big plans for the progression of the Elite 1 project and Lorraine is perfect to help us take it to the next level. Darts is ever-changing and the demands and pressures of the professional game are growing, we want to support young players through that to help the next generation reach their potential."
We are delighted to have Lorraine join us and lead our Elite 1 program to the next level. Dan Dawson recently caught up with her to discuss her new position - listen in here.
