Target's world number two Rob Cross is back on course to top the league phase of the Premier League, after a supremely clinical performance in Manchester.
Night 14 of the tournament in Manchester saw "Voltage" take on last year's runner-up Michael Smith, and refuse to give his opponent the slightest chance of getting into the match.
Flawless finishing from Cross saw him complete checkouts of 101, 78, 71 and 68 to win the first four legs, and a stunning run saw him produce three consecutive 11 dart legs to power to an 8-1 victory.
That put him back on top of the table at the end of the night, thanks to leader Michael van Gerwen being beaten by Daryl Gurney.
"I think the momentum is very important - I can't go into my last two games and lose them; it wouldn't be a very good start to the playoffs.
"Michael might slip up, but at the same time I've still got to win two games - so I've got to make sure I'm right, there's every chance I can keep the pressure on."
Cross will now go to Graz for the Austrian Darts Open, as the European Tour continues this weekend, where #TeamTarget will also be represented by Adrian Lewis, Dave Chisnall, Raymond van Barneveld, Ricky Evans, Stephen Bunting and Nathan Aspinall - with live coverage on PDC TV from Friday afternoon.
