Who are the past winners of the Baltic Sea Darts Open??
The Baltic Sea Darts Open may be one of the newer stops on the European Tour, but it’s already delivered some standout moments. In 2024, Rob Cross claimed the title with a hard-fought 8–6 win over Luke Humphries in a thrilling final. The year before, in 2023, it was Dave Chisnall who lifted the trophy after an impressive 8–5 victory, again over Humphries, who has now finished runner-up two years in a row. With such high-calibre finals already in the history books, fans can expect more drama and top-class darts again this year.
What makes the 2025 tournament special or different from previous years?
There are some exciting changes to the Baltic Sea Darts Open this year, starting with a major shake-up in the draw structure. Seeding is now based on the two-year PDC Order of Merit, while the next 16 spots are taken from the current one-year ProTour Order of Merit. This new dual-ranking approach means we’re seeing a mix of players who have shown long-term consistency alongside those in top recent form. Seeded players will begin their campaign in round two, while the rest will compete from round one.
Another key update is the arrival of Elten Safety Shoes as the tournament’s new sponsor. Founded in 1910 in Uedem, a small shoemaking town on the Lower Rhine, ELTEN is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of safety footwear. They are known for developing innovative solutions that adapt to the modern work environment while maintaining high standards of safety, comfort, and design. Their reputation for quality and forward-thinking makes them a strong partner for this year’s event.
Local Rising Stars
There are a couple of exciting names for fans to watch out for at the 2025 Baltic Sea Darts Open, especially among the local and rising stars. Oskar Lukasiak from Sweden is making headlines after earning his PDC Tour Card at Q-School earlier this year. He’s already picked up a win on the Nordic and Baltic ProTour in Riga and played a key role in helping Sweden reach the World Cup of Darts quarter-finals in both 2023 and 2024. Many fans will remember him as a youth prodigy who made history back in 2004 as the youngest-ever player to hit a nine-darter.
Another Swedish talent to follow is Viktor Tingström, who also secured his PDC Tour Card in January 2025. A standout from the Swedish youth circuit, he has already made his mark by competing in world youth events, winning the Finnish Masters, and qualifying for Euro Tour tournaments. He recently faced some of the biggest names in the game in Copenhagen, including Luke Littler, gaining valuable experience on the big stage.
