TARGET DARTS COATINGS ENQUIRIES

Date: 15 Jun 2010

TARGET COATINGS

In response to a few enquiries...

We’ve had a number of enquiries regarding the nature of the black coatings we apply to our darts, and how they are applied and are delighted to respond.

The black coating in question is called 'Titanium Nitride', which is an extremely hard ceramic based material, and it is applied by a process called vacuum deposition. This application involves a process which deposits layers in a highly specific atom-by-atom, or molecule-by-molecule fashion, and is conducted at sub-atmospheric pressure on a solid surface.

The coating is applied by a specialist company who are also a UK tier 1 supplier to the Formula 1 Motor Racing industry and which is administered under scientific conditions. The coatings applied to Target Darts are 2 to 3 microns thick which helps provide the barrel with the highest possible protection, and an example can be found on the latest Tony O'Shea signature darts, which have a black finish version, as well as a traditional silver barrel finish.

Whatever the coating we use, please be assured that we use only the very best materials that are available on the market. Our coatings all come from the highest grade suppliers, who not only serve Formula 1 racing, but also the aerospace and defense industries – who are probably the most demanding material coating consumers in the world.

If anyone has any specific questions regarding our products, please don't hesitate to send in your queries to us at: info@target-darts.co.uk

Best Wishes.

TARGET DARTS AFGHANISTAN TRUST BENEFIT EVENING

Date: 23 Jun 2010

A tremendous evening was had by all at the Target Darts sponsored benefit evening which was held in aid of the Afghanistan Trust. The event - which was held at the Parachute Regiment barracks at Colchester - raised vital funds for members of the Parachute Regiment (and their families) who have been injured or killed whilst on active service in Afghanistan.

A quality exhibition of darts was supplied by Target Darts MD Garry Plummer, who was ably supported by Sky Sports' MC John McDonald, Target Darts ambassador Rod Harrington and top dart players Colin Lloyd, Mark Dudbridge, Andy Fordham, Tony O'Shea, and Dennis Priestley. PDC referee George Noble, PDC scorer Scott Gibling and PDC security officer Chris Radford also gave graciously of their time.

Target Darts are proud to be associated with the Afghanistan Trust with Managing Director Mr. Garry Plummer saying: ‘It was a fabulous evening and an extremely humbling experience to meet the real-life heroes of the Parachute Regiment. The Afghanistan Trust is a fantastically worthwhile cause and I am delighted for Target Darts to play a part in working with such a tremendous initiative’.

The work with the Afghanistan trust continues Target Darts commitment to helping the British Armed Forces, as the company organised a similar evening earlier in the year for the Headley Court Centre - which helps aid rehabilitation for armed services personnel who have been injured whilst on active service.
